GOVERNANCE
The Archdiocese of Boston recently enacted a new school governance model known as the 2010 Initiative & Strategic Plan. St. Augustine School has adopted this model and, as such, is managed by a two-tier structure that includes the Parish Pastor and School Board.
As a Parish school, our Pastor is ultimately responsible as the canonical administrator. Our Board is one of limited jurisdiction, focused on the overall viability and success of the school. The Pastor, Principal, and School Board work together to guide the school’s academic, strategic, and operational advancement in accordance with the vision of the Parish, as well as our Catholic educational objectives and fiscal operating practices.
The School Board consists of a cross-section of faculty, alumni, school parents, and Parish members. In addition to participating on the Board itself, each member also chairs a specific committee, as follows:
- Dr. Robert Cuomo is Chairman and has oversight of all functional areas governed by the School Board. Additionally, Dr. Cuomo oversees the Buildings & Grounds Committee which includes maintaining the physical facility and working with the Finance Committee to ensure adequate funding to support it.
- Mr. Richard Crowley is Vice Chair of the Board and oversees the Finance
Committee, which is responsible for budgeting and policies for financial management within the framework of the Parish.
- Dr. Janine LeBlanc-Straceski has oversight of the Curriculum Development Committee, which includes the assessment and advancement of academic and extra-curricular programs.
- Mrs. Eugenie Moffit chairs the Policy Committee, which includes recommending and approving institutional policies that are consistent with Archdiocesan guidelines.
- Dr. Maria Sannella chairs the Marketing & Development Committee,
which ensures that the school has a comprehensive marketing program in place as well as special projects related to fundraising.
The Board encourages parent volunteers who have a desire to contribute their creative thinking and positive energy to participate on these teams. If you are interested in learning more, please call the school office for information on how to contact the appropriate Board member.
