MIDDLE-LEVEL OUTREACH
Some of the projects in which Grades 5-8
have been or are currently involved include:
- Bringing donations of canned
goods or toiletries as admission to school dances or game nights, and donating
those items to local shelters
- Hike for Hope - coordinating
school-wide participation in a local walk-a-thon that raises money for Lazarus House
in
Lawrence
- Kindergarten Buddies - our Grade
8 students share their talents and faith by escorting their Kindergarten Buddies
to the school liturgies and participating in various activities with them throughout
the year
- Lenten Dinners - students from
each class stay after school once a week to supply ingredients, cook, and
deliver meals to Lazarus House
-
Turkey
Dinner Drive - Middle
School students coordinate the collection of various food items on behalf
of all grades in order to assemble Thanksgiving “dinner” baskets and
deliver them Lazarus House
- Winter Warmth Project - combine the idea
of a fifth grader with word-of-mouth publicity and you get an event that has
grown to be so large that it’s now held in the gymnasium – our
Middle School students coordinate donations of coats, hats, and mittens for children
and adults, and gift wrap them for delivery to a local shelter
